Meritton Book Week 2026

Book Week 2026 at Meritton British International School

Book Week 2026 at Meritton British International School was a vibrant five-day celebration of reading, creativity, and community, designed to inspire a lifelong love of books among our students.

The week began with a variety of engaging activities, including storytelling sessions led by parents, a lively book fair, and a special “Stop Drop and Read” moment where everyone paused to enjoy reading together. These experiences not only brought joy to our students but also encouraged them to explore new ideas and knowledge through books.

On the second day, the spirit of community continued as parents joined once again to share stories with students. A heartwarming highlight was when primary students read to early years learners, fostering kindness, confidence, and a sense of responsibility while strengthening bonds across age groups.

Creativity took center stage on day three, as students collaborated to decorate their classroom doors inspired by their favorite books. The results were truly impressive, showcasing imagination, teamwork, and dedication, while reinforcing the connection between reading and creative expression.

Day four offered students the chance to design their own bookmarks, allowing them to express their artistic talents. The day was further enriched by a special visit from author Colin S L Mackie, who shared his writing journey and inspired students with valuable insights into the world of storytelling.

The celebration concluded with an exciting finale, where students dressed up as their favorite book and movie characters, bringing stories to life across the campus. They also shared stories they love with their peers, promoting the joy of reading and the importance of sharing knowledge and ideas.

Overall, Book Week 2026 was a meaningful and memorable experience that combined learning with fun, strengthened our school community, and nurtured a lasting passion for reading in all our students.
