World Values Day 2024

Bringing Values to Life

On Friday, 11th October, we were honoured to welcome Meritton families to a special event that provided a valuable opportunity to put our shared values into practice.

Pre-Nursery to Reception: Parents joined in storytelling sessions, sharing value-based stories with the children. This warm activity brought smiles and laughter, while fostering important values that will help the children grow into thoughtful and principled individuals.

Students in Years 1 to 2: “Homegrown Values” students brought in items from home that represented their family values and explained how these objects connect to the values they practise in their daily lives.

Students in Years 3 to 6: “Values Around Us” students interviewed family members, neighbours, or important community figures about the values they hold dear. They then creatively showcased these interviews through various displays to share with their classmates and visitors.

Our Secondary Students: “Values into Action” students explored how different values influence and shape our world. Through research, discussions, and projects, they investigated values such as kindness, honesty, and responsibility, and examined how these values impact global and societal issues.

This event reminded us that living by our values is not something confined to a single day, but an ongoing journey towards making our world a better place. We hope to continue promoting and nurturing these values within our school community throughout the year. A big thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to this meaningful celebration, and for helping inspire our children and community with these important values.

World Values Day is observed every October. It’s a global event that encourages citizens worldwide to pause and reflect on their values, as well as to increase their awareness and practice of these values.
