At Meritton British International School, our Wai Kru Ceremony brought our school community together to celebrate one of Thailand’s most meaningful traditions under the theme Grounded & Grateful: Rooted in Wisdom, Growing in Gratitude.
The ceremony was a thoughtful reflection of gratitude, respect, and the relationships that help our students grow. Students carefully created traditional flower trays to present to their teachers, expressing their appreciation through a cherished Thai custom. The elegant Fon Khan Dok dance, developed through dedicated rehearsals, became a beautiful highlight of the celebration, while student speeches delivered in different languages reflected the diverse voices of our international community, united by one heartfelt message of thanks.
A particularly meaningful moment came as students presented teak saplings and scented wooden sticks to their teachers. The young trees symbolised how learning flourishes when nurtured with care, while the gentle fragrance offered a lasting reminder of a day filled with appreciation and respect.
Our Wai Kru Ceremony reflected the values we strive to cultivate every day: gratitude, respect, and a strong sense of community. We extend our thanks to every student who created, rehearsed, danced, and spoke with confidence, and to every teacher whose guidance continues to help our students grow.
