Reading Week 2024

Reading Week 2024

The whole week from January 29th to February 2nd was fantastic for the bookworms at Meritton! Students and teachers carried their books with them at all times so that when the bell rang, they could “Stop, Drop, and Read” anytime and anywhere! The week was filled with lots of fun activities to encourage the love of reading among learners from a young age. Seniors read to juniors, friends read together during break time, teachers read to students from classes they don’t normally teach, and many more tasks were completed throughout the week.

Thank you, Meritton parents, for sending in heaps of creative reading pose photos from home!

Friday was the highlight of Reading Week when people came to school dressed as their favorite book characters! Not only that, we also had Dog Man as a surprise guest at the library!

It was lovely to see students and staff participating in the reading event. This year, we gave away vouchers for “The Most Diligent Effort Awards” from each class to buy more books!

Once again, we were delighted to have Asia Books with us throughout the entire event. Getting new books, either from the latest releases or exchanging with friends at the Book Swap, will nurture the love of learning and curiosity.

Overall, Reading Week aimed to cultivate a positive attitude towards reading among Meritton students, fostering a lifelong love for literature and learning. We would like to say that last week was a success!
