Songkran Celebration 2026 at Meritton British International School
This year, Meritton British International School welcomed the Thai New Year with a vibrant and joyful Songkran celebration under the theme “Floral Bloom.” Inspired by the beauty of nature and the spirit of renewal, our campus was transformed into a blooming garden filled with color, happiness, and new beginnings.
From the moment you stepped into our School and World Club Hall, you were surrounded by lively floral decorations and cheerful energy. Students and staff embraced the theme by wearing bright, colorful floral outfits, creating a warm and festive atmosphere across the school. The celebration encouraged everyone to share smiles, positivity, and the refreshing spirit that Songkran brings each year.
A highlight of the event was a special guest performance — a prestigious Khon masked dance, telling a story from the Ramayana, performed by the talented artists from the Chiang Mai College of Dramatic Arts. This traditional performance captivated the audience and offered a meaningful glimpse into Thailand’s rich cultural heritage.
Our students also took center stage with their own showcases, presenting graceful and beautiful Thai dance performances. Their dedication and pride in Thai culture shone through every movement, making it a memorable experience for all.
To conclude the celebration, the school held the Rod Nam Dam Hua Ceremony, a cherished Thai tradition where students respectfully poured scented water over the hands of teachers and elders. This meaningful ritual symbolizes gratitude, respect, and the passing on of blessings for the year ahead.
The Songkran celebration at Meritton was not only a festive occasion but also an opportunity for our community to come together, appreciate Thai traditions, and welcome the new year with joy, respect, and unity.
