Primary Curriculum

(Years 1 – 6)

Students in our Primary School follow the Cambridge Curriculum for core subjects English, Maths and Science as well as Physical Education, Art and Design and Digital Literacy. Cambridge Science combines with History and Geography, from the English National Curriculum to for Units of Exploration. Students also study Thai three times a week using the Thai National Curriculum for International Schools.

Alongside the academic subjects, students also benefit from a focused Values lesson each week and our practical Life Skills program. Each day, students also take part in Mindfulness practice, Circle Time and Reflection. Circle Time and Reflection provide the opportunity to discuss learning, and also explore values and any issues that may have come up in class. In Life Skills, students learn everything from how to cook to basic carpentry skills and gardening.

Academic Events

At Meritton, we love celebrating learning throughout the year. Our academic events encourage pupils to collaborate, think creatively, show courage, solve problems, and share with kindness. These activities provide rich opportunities for hands-on learning and real-life practice, while also strengthening meaningful connections with families and the wider community.

Assessment and Standards

We ensure the standards of the Cambridge Primary Curriculum are met through three methods:

  1. Assessing the students strengths, weaknesses and potential at the start of the year using Cambridge recommended InCAS baseline test (Year 3-6).
  2. Tracking the ongoing, week-by-week progression of our students using the school’s pupil progress tracking system, Classroom Monitor.
  3. Assessing students at the end of the year through Cambridge Progression Tests (Year 4-5) and externally moderated Cambridge Checkpoint Test (Year 6)
