A Verry Merrytton Christmas Fair 2022

A Very Merrytton Christmas Fair

It was the very first Christmas fair at Meritton British International School. We were grateful for all the support from parents and staff for making this wonderful event happen. Our garden and classrooms were crowded with many kinds of Christmas angels and creatures. Under the shade in the garden, we could smell delicious food and baked goods from the stalls. The atmosphere was filled with love and happiness at the end of the year. Santa Clause also paid a visit to the school! The year 2022-23 has been a fantastic academic year so far.

All of Meritton students had opportunities to perform on the stage, we started the show with the youngest ones in the early morning. The shows from each class were:

Nursery – I’m the Happiest Christmas Tree;

Reception – The Gingerbread Cookie Dance;

Year One – Rudolph the red nosed reindeer dance;

Year Two – Santa Claus is coming to town;

Year Three – Jingle Bell Rock;

Year Four – Holidays;

Year Five – A Spaceman Came Travelling;

Year Six – 12 days of Christmas (student-made lyrics);

and Year Seven and Eight – The cup song (Christmas edition).

The following shows were from after-school activities, the club members performed ballet, dancing, and singing. Ms. Gina, the Art teacher, and Mr. Yim, the Thai language and culture teacher, were the MCs in the roasted turkey costume, and the glitch costume.

Ho Ho Ho! Mr. Santa greeted us with his cheerful belly laugh. He gave away lots of treats to lovely children in Meritton. There was also a mini Christmas game booth for our students to play and win prizes! The school wanted to make sure that everyone got something on their hands.

Since Christmas is the season of giving, we celebrated empathy by raising money for Thai tribe learning centres under the supervision of the Office of the Non-Formal and Informal Education (NFE), MaeJam district, Chiang Mai province. Students from Early Years to Lower Secondary owned their stalls selling special Christmas goods. Most of the items sold at the fair were crafted by our wonderful students. Meritton parents and local businesses were also invited to open a stall at the fair. We at Merriton cannot thank the parents enough for contributing to our small community with kindness and generosity.
